Camera Facts

Q. Do you supply HQ2 and 580TVL camera

A. No, it does not exist, please read on and we will try and explain..

Q. Other sites make claims of selling new HQ2 cameras and cameras of 580TVL. Why?

A. We at RF Concepts Ltd have no idea, Sony, to date [Feb 09] have NOT released the Sony HQ2 chipset yet, it is STILL in R&D.
Perhaps they really mean their camera uses Sony Super HAD 2 [ICX639AK CCD]. This is the same CCD in our HQ1 camera.

Q. Can you prove this?

A. All we can do is explain what chipset is in the "so called HQ2 camera".

The 'HQ2 camera' uses the Sony Super HAD Ⅱ CCD (ICX639AK) and Next DSP [Next DSP which is Mid End & low cost].

Next DSP allows the camera body to be smaller, ie 19mm diameter. The Sony HQ1 chipset cannot physically fit a 19mm body.

Q. Is the HQ2 camera 580TVL?

A. A quick test will show the picture to be softer than our HQ1 and HQX.
Tests have proved the Next DSP combined with Sony Super Had 2 fitted to this camera is around 480TVL [certainly not 580TVL, as claimed].

Q. Does RF Concepts cameras HQ1 use the same CCD 'Sony Super HAD 2'

A. Yes, but we do not use the NEXT DSP with it.

Q. Why?

A. Because it is mid end, is lower resolution, and shows poorer colouration.

Q. Does the NEXT chipset have an advantage

A. Yes, it allows the camera body to be smaller, but sacrifices quality.

Q. Why do you state these facts

A. Because we are constantly asked if we produce a Sony HQ2 camera with 580 TVL.

Q. What if you are wrong?

A. Buy both cameras and compare.
If our camera is of lower quality, i.e., resolution and colouration, we will refund the cost of our camera!
All we do is be honest about camera specification!

Q. When Sony release new products such as HQ2, will you supply?

A. Yes. We will probably be the first to supply these. Just as we have in the past been first to introduce the Sony HQ1, and the special waterproof connectors, that have been copied, and now common throughout.
